Product Care

In order to maintain each piece’s original luster proper care and handing is required.

OUR RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Keep your jewelry in it’s original pouch or box after use. Always place it on a soft surface.
  • Avoid contact with perfume, alcohol, cosmetics, ammonia and chlorine.
  • Avoid contact with other jewelry and metal objects as friction can deteriorate its shine.
  • Avoid forcing clasps, joints and metal frames.
  • Prevent any damage or loss by storing your jewelry safely.
  • If your jewelry is hit check the stone’s setting to prevent its loss.
  • Clean pieces of jewelry in lukewarm water and soap with a soft brush, excluding items that use leather parts, or are strung (bracelet and necklaces).

GENERAL CARE

  • Dust, pollution and daily wear can cloud the brilliance of gemstones and dull the surface of gold, platinum and silver jewelry.
  • Examine your jewelry regularly to make sure settings, clasps and joinings are secure as they can loosen when worn often over time.
  • Professional cleanings are recommended once a year.
  • We can assist you with restringing necklaces and bracelets and repairing any pieces you purchased through JeffreyBurroughs.com.

STERLING SILVER

  • Sterling silver tarnishes, especially when exposed to salt, air and products containing sulfur, such as rubber bands and some papers. However, silver that is often warn typically needs less care. So we encourage you to wear your sterling silver jewelry every day.
  • We recommend washing your silver jewelry by hand in warm water with a mild soap.
  • Some of our jewelry has an oxidized finish, which is an intentional darkening of crevices in the ornamentation of the jewelry and allow its  details to stand out more clearly. If over cleaned or polished this can remove the finish.

GOLD/PLATINUM

  • Most gold and platinum jewelry can be maintained in-between professional cleanings with a non-abrasive cleaner.
  • Avoid exposing gold jewelry to household bleach, which will quickly cause gold to discolor and possibly disintegrate.
