This Western Asiatic piece is made of an original twisted penannular bronze necklace closed with a black stone cylinder bead knotted to its coiled ends. Metal necklaces made to enhance the beauty of a center stone bead is characteristic of early Middle Eastern jewelry. In Asia, the cylinder shape is often symbolically associated with the flow of positive energy. It also represents the pipe from which rejuvenating water springs.
