The Constantinople Coin Pendant is a part of our Ancient Future® collection. This precious homage to Ancient Eastern Roman splendor features the Byzantine emperor Constantine V, represented in coronation robes next to his son and heir Leo IV. The coin is set in a perfect bezel, open on the back to view the other side of the coin, which features Constantine V’s father, Leo III.
The side-by-side representation is typical of early medieval European monarchies and symbolizes both the legitimacy and the stability of power.

Overview:
The front of the coin (left) features Constantine V, bearded on the left, and Leo IV, beardless on right. Adorned in crowns, chlamys, or short cloak and hold an akakia. The akakia is a cylindrical purple silk roll filled with sand to symbolize our mortal nature.
The back of the coin (right) features Leo III, bearded and wearing his crown and chlamys, while holding a cross potent.
